How do I save on gas? Use regular gasoline Unless your vehicle requires premium gas, filling up your automobile with high-octane gas is a waste of time and money. The premium gas doesn't improve your gas mileage or functionality. If you're not sure what grade works best for your car, your owner's handbook will tell you. You can always ask your mechanic what grade to use. Utilizing high-octane gasoline could save you hundreds of dollars a year than using regular gasoline. Don't top off when filling your car's gasoline tank. Any extra gas is just going to slop around or exude. Refrain from pumping at the first indication that your tank is full when the automatic nozzle clicks off. Tighten up the gasoline cap and Gas will evaporate from the gas tank if it has a getaway. You can boost your vehicle gas mileage by 1 to 2% by following the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil. Use motor oil with the words "energy conserving" on the API (American Petroleum Institute) performance label. This oil contains extras to lower the friction.
